Why do we do this to ourselves?

So today Lisa and I went to the beach. The water was freezing (61 degrees), the sun was hot, we were sweating, the sand was blowing and sticking all over us, we couldnt get comfortable as we were laying there, we got sunburned, we looked nasty, etc.
On the way home were talking about the day and we both said...why do we do this to ourselves? the only really fun part of the day was hanging out together...but we can do that in a skin-cancer-free environment! HA!
so, we both decided that next time we want to go to the beach, we wont. we will find something air-conditioned and clean. funny how we didnt think of this earlier. we've been doing it for years! maybe we are getting old?

Fun for FREE!

Lisa, Amanda, Crystal and I all decided to do something free the other day. All of us are broke and bored. After about thirty minutes of brainstorming we decided to put on our old P.E. uniforms and go to my church (also my high school).
There, we played on a raft in a man-made pond, played four-square, and played in the rain! YEAH!
One small problem. we didnt have a change of clothes! So, we got these huge trash bags from the church and wore them in the car. I would do it all over again to see people laugh at us again! hahahaha!
Our next cheap outing? "People watching" at the airport!

Dork of the Day

I am such a dork.
so yesterday aaron was working at a house close to where i work and his crew ran out of water so he called me to see if i could bring them some. no problem. my boss at daycare donated a gallon of water, three plastic cups, and a huge ziploc bag full of ice.
aaron told me what road the house was on and said "you cant miss it, the yard is all torn up - it's all dirt."
so, here i go to this house. i pull up on the side of the road - feeling a little insecure. i get out of my car with the gallon of water, ice, and cups and this middle-aged man walks up to me with a huge smile on his face.
i think to myself "aww! he looks so appreciative!" but i actually say, "um. does. um. does aaron work here?"
he looks at me sorta amused and says, "i dont know no aaron."
"oh...i must have the wrong house." i reply as i pick try to act normal and get back in my car.
"i was wondering why you were bringing us water!!" (poor guy! he looked so disappointed!)

i then go further down the road to a house 4x the size of the one i stopped at and see aaron and the other guys out in the yard. phew. it only took two stops.

yeah. i am a dork. next time, i think i will ask him what house number!

random post

so tonight i got to hang out with an friend from college that i hadnt seen in forever. it was so much fun! i will only say that her name is amanda and that she was my roomie for a semester. i wont say any more than that because she and i were discussing weirdos that track people down and stuff like that so i want to protect her identity:)
anyway, we had tons of laughs, serious talks (as serious as we can be i think), and good food. what more can a girl want?

today marked my first day back at Picture People. the good ole 9-5 shift went by fast. we were booked all day long, but the Lord blessed me with great sittings and a great staff!

random daycare sayings:
1. "victa-eatya-pisa" which means "victor, eat your pizza" in my best chinese accent. you see, there is this 2-year-old little chinese boy who speaks no english, i joke around with him about me not knowing any chinese, so i try my best.
2. "mary banilow" that is what the kids say instead of "barry manilow". i am attempting to teach the 2-year-olds how to slow dance (although, i dont even know myself). they love barry though (as do i) so we all just have a grand time!
3. "i love you". this just melts my heart. one morning, one of the boys had many time-outs. i had to be pretty strict with him, but it is for his benefit and because i love him. anyway, this one little boy had a particularly difficult morning, but after nap he woke up and came to me and said "i love you" in the sweetest little voice. i scooped him up and hugged him for a while. what a cutie! it reminds me how much God loves me so he disciplines me when ive sinned and how much i love him for it.

have a great week everybody...tell someone you love them - even if it's a 2-year-old!
