2nd Place

We are the CHAMPIONS!
No, not my girls. Our team lost by two in the championship game. Second in the state of NH. not bad. They played a great game, and were ahead by nine at half time. Defense was miscombobulated during the second half. see, we were doing a triangle and two defense (double teaming one girl), but when she wasnt playing, my team would go back to their normal man-to-man defense. (no, i do NOT call it person to person or woman-to-woman, and i laugh at those that do)! anyway, at one point, some of the girls were doing one defense while the rest of the team was doing the other. obviously, this was not effective! the team couldnt hear me communicating with them because of the outrageous noise in the gym and time-outs were scarce! anyway, they played well and my team is young. i am looking forward to a great season next year!
on the other hand, the guys team just earned the regional championship! they played really well and were coached phenomenally!
Congrats guys!

Tournament Week

Wow. It is almost the end of the basketball season. We had out last game tonight and the tournament is this weekend. We are going into the tourney in second place. Not bad, not good. Our girls have sooo much potential and i am excited because i believe they are peaking at the right time. tonight they came out with excellent defense. excellent. I cant wait to see all their hard work and effort culminate this weekend! LET'S GO CRUSADERS!

First Game

Today was my first league game as a basketball coach. New things always scare me. i get nervous - you know - as if I'm giving a speech or something. By the time the game started, i was calm, but still anxious about what was to come. the girls played extremely sloppy. i had to sit all but one starter at some point during the game simply because they put forth zero effort to the cause of the team. the focus of the game is basketball, but that ball seemed to be low on the priority scale. as a coach, i failed. i obviously havent trained them effectively enough for it. our offense reeked, but our defense was worse. the girls all know how i feel about the game, but to them i think a win is a win. not in my book. a poorly won game is a loss. on a realistic note, this was the second game of the season. i would rather deal with the issues now the week of the tourney. the Lord was gracious. we should have lost. but i will learn from this and move on.
